Chrome 127 Integrates Gemini: Local AI Features
Google has integrated the Gemini AI model into the Chrome browser, bringing a brand new, free local AI experience:
- Completely free and unlimited usage
- Supports offline operation, eliminating network dependency
- Features include image recognition, natural language processing, intelligent recommendations, and more
Current Status
- Launched as an experimental feature in the Chrome 127 dev version
- Requires simple configuration to enable
Chrome V127 dev Version Download
- Go to the official Chrome website: [Click to Download] (ensure the version number is no less than 127.0.6512)
- Download and install directly. Installing the dev version does not require uninstalling the previous browser, so you don’t have to worry about data loss.
Enable Device Model
- Open a new tab in Chrome dev and enter in the address bar:
chrome://flags/#optimization-guide-on-device-model
- Enable it
Enable Gemini Nano
- Open a new tab again and enter in the address bar:
chrome://flags/#prompt-api-for-gemini-nano
- Enable it as well
Check Model Download Status
- After successfully setting the above experimental features, the browser will automatically download the device model and necessary components. You can check the model download status by entering:
chrome://components/
in the address bar:
- Find “Optimization Guide On Device Model,” and click “Check for updates.” If you don’t see this option, wait a few minutes and check again. If you still don’t see it, try changing the browser language to English (US).
